The Scientific Way of Living

I recently read the book ‘Barking up the Wrong Tree’ by Eric Barker. The book takes in consideration the scientific research and draws up conclusion based on the same.

‘I think the name of book came through his own name . maybe ;D’

While the book in itself talks about success by including topics ranging from psychology , personality , social and work life of different individuals whether they be Navy Seals or Ted Williams . It begs a very interesting question . What if we consciously used science in our living?

Well, what do I mean by that , by starter , to look at cause and effect of each action we undertake everyday. To analyze each of them , and become a bit better every subsequent day.

How could we start with the same? By being aware of the actions we undertake everyday. So if you’re binge-watching the Money Heist Season 5 , you should remember you wasted one day of your life. Don’t worry , I have done that too.

One of the most important tools which if you don’t have , is to get a time tracker such as RescueTime , or any other tool . The main idea behind this activity is to be aware of the time you consume per day on different activities. Starting to be aware about how your time , is only the first step.

The next thing that you will have to do is deliberately change your habits which sounds exhausting , but you would love the results of it changing you.

Start with doing any activity you hate(which you secretly believe is the best for you) for fixed amount of time . And you would start finding better results every day .

P.s The activity I hate the most is Pushups.

If you know Pomodoro timer technique , starting as base point like that might be useful . Trust me , though I waste few minutes of my sessions , hoping when the time would get over . It does help in getting some hours of productive work in for the day.

Even scheduling your breaks, might be something you should try to do for yourself. Like specifying the amount of hours you watch TV . Or the amount of episodes , you can watch for the day . A bonus point for you , if you only watch TV after getting your work done.

While certainly our lives have changed a lot due to COVID and the recent lockdown , but still we can try to reduce our intake on Instagram Memes, the new message just popping on your phone right now or million of other mind numbing activities.

If you feel like , you may not be able to do even this much , think again. The last weapon you may use is to listen to music while doing work . It can improve your day by lot. And the activity you are thinking (pushups) can be something you are able to endure more. Personally , I listen to lofi music whenever I have to work .

I hope these tips help you out as much as they have helped me out!
